Comprising the northeast corner of Grand Traverse County, Acme Township stretches along nine miles of East Grand Traverse Bay between Traverse City and Elk Rapids. In addition to waterfront properties along the bay, the township is home to established subdivisions along Bunker Hill Road, while the northern and eastern portions of the township are more rural.
The Grand Traverse Resort, which is home to a 17-story hotel, 3 championship golf courses, shopping and private beaches spread across 900 acres. The Turtle Creek Hotel & Casino is located on the east end of the township. Lochenheath Golf Club is also located in the township along with recreational opportunities offered by Maple Bay Natural Area and Yuba Creek Natural Area.
The southern half of Acme Township is located in the Traverse City school district, with students going to Courtade Elementary, East Middle, and Central High, while the northern half is located in the Elk Rapids district.
