Long Lake Township is tucked in the northwest corner of Grand Traverse county, but still conveniently located to downtown Traverse City and Munson Medical Center, with are both less than ten minutes drive from closer in neighborhoods.
The township is most well known for its namesake Long Lake, with its 17 miles of shoreline and variety of small cottages and expansive waterfront estates. In addition, it is home to many newer developments in the Traverse City area including Huellmantel Lake Estates and Long Lake Estates, as well as smaller homes and a cluster of multifamily properties along North Long Lake Road.
In addition to Long Lake and all it has to offer, numerous natural areas are located in the township, as well as the world famoust Moomer's Ice Cream. The township is predominantly located in the Traverse City West Middle and High School district and is served by Long Lake, Westwoods, and Silver Lake Elementary schools.
